Christmas Time is Here

Last week, on an internet bulletin board, I got into a spirited discussion about the role of the internet in education and in kids' lives these days.

Quite obviously, since I am a blog-addict and powerless to control my addiction, I'm a fan of the internet. I actually believe myspace can be great for kids, with plenty of adult supervision. And, the power of the internet to engage kids in learning is immense.

Today's blog review is an excellent example of what I was talking about above. So, my sweet little elves, I have a holiday assignment for you. Go to Charlie's blog. Tell him "hi!" Wish him happy holidays. Give him some electric love.

Charlie is a 7-year-old boy with autism. His pretty amazing mom has helped him create this blog as a tool to help him connect to the world and communicate. Charlie does his blogging himself, typing whatever he feels like saying to his readers on any particular day. Mom helps, but mostly this blog is Charlie's place.

Charlie is quite possibly the cutest kid on the planet. He has outstanding taste in television. Charlie has his own book about him, written by his mom. Charlie wants to go to Disney World. Charlie is better at spelling than most of the bloggers we review. Mom may want to add an archives link to the sidebar so we can read farther back when Charlie has posted more. That is the only thing I found missing on this blog.

I <3 you, Charlie. You're a star!

And,

p.s. This post is cleaner than usual because somehow I thought Charlie's mom might want to let him read his review.

  6. I had to use my account to help him leave a comment. All he can think about is this pink grocery scanner that he wants. Thanks for reviewing him. I just love this kid. Do you know that he could type before he could speak in whole sentences? He's quite a kid.

I used to feel like we were cursed by autism, now I feel strongly that he is our gift and I love him so much!
