What's up, bitches! It's been so long! We should go get some vodka and reminisce after my little rant, k? K!
On today's platter of bloggage we have...um...Galactically Stupid. I feel awkward saying "galactically stupid." Don't ask me why, I just do.
The first thing that popped out at me was the way Mr. Stupid begins all of his posts. It's trademarkish, right? In that "Let me hook you by using the first two or three words of the first sentence of my post as the title so you have no choice but to read what I write!" kind of way. Not digging the hook, yo.
Second thing noticed: El Senor Stupid-o's Labor Day post (that would be yesterday, people) has not one, but SEVEN posts. One for every day of the week! Seven times the fun! I'm all about the blogging zeal, but really...seven?! I have to admit, though, that I eased up on the hate after reading that someone found his blog by a search for a "chicken tractor." That's pretty hot. Admit it, fuckers, it is.
In terms of his template, he goes with simple black. I completely agree with this choice of template in this instance BECAUSE he actually has smart shit to say sometimes! He needs no swirlies or multi-lined wallpaper-looking backgrounds because he says things of meaning that take away from the template! I don't have to focus on the template because the dude is intellectual, which means I read what he writes instead of gawking in abject terror at a blog that looks like the color wheel had a bad night and projectile vomitted all over it.
Hold on, I have to change the song on my iTunes...
...
Ok, I'm back. Now! Content! As mentioned a paragraph or two up, he says smart shit. On top of the fact that he says smart shit, he also says it concisely. I don't have to spend a year and a half travailing the literary backwoods of a post to figure out what he's trying to say. I can appreciate that because, although I have a degree in bullshitting, I believe in cutting the shit and getting to the point. My attention span is too short to dedicate that kind of time to a blog post. Especially one that inspires thought — I have to actually put some of that time into THINKING about what he said, ya know? I might not always agree with what the guy says, but at least I'm inspired to think. And sometimes, thinking is fun.
He also does a nice job of throwing in some not-so-mind-boggling posts to switch it up. Good call considering most people can't take that much brain stimulation when reading blogs. And he throws in pictures for the visually inclined. Tricky fish!
Overall, I give Galactically Stupid for its insightful side and a for the trademark post titles/hooks that I just can't get into.
Cheers! Now who wants to get drunk?!
Word to the intro title hook things being rather annoying, but they are strategic for getting a reader to keep on keepin' on with the reading. 'Course, people usually don't usually peruse a blog unless they have some intention of reading.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...
I like it. Yessirreee I done do.
It's good shit, really. He brings the funny.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, TJ. We missed ye.
I confess to being thrown a little by the numerous different entries on one day but I dig starting the posts with the beginning few words.
ReplyDeleteGuess it means you have to be a little more creative right off the bat rather than "yesterday morning", "last night" or the classic "at lunch I..."
I do wish people would write more. To be honest I'm put off reading really short posts. Perversely it almost feels like it isn't worth committing the time when you can already see that it will be over in four lines.
Keep up the good work everyone.
Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
