Jamaic'in Me Crazy With that Auto-Play Music

So, The Powers that Be allowed me to post a day late, since my booze fueled weekend caused me to forget a whole day and I completely forgot today was Tuesday until I got to work. I know, I'm retarded. Anyway, I'm all snuggled in at my computer, ready to review Wandering Girl's blog A dog, a cat, and a girl in fabulous shoes.

Well, on first blush, I liked the blog. She seems like a girl I'd probably hang out with at home. Spontaneous, fun, and a self-deprecating sense of humor. She's got funny stories about her travels, one of which was a trip to Jamaica for a wedding (which, strangely, is broken up into several posts, which makes me feel like I'm on some wired acid trip) and the giggles and fun that ensues when you take a trip with 2 other good friends (awww, I'm gonna barf...not really). The rest of it is your typical personal stuff, an ode to her sister, funny conversations with the old people at the nursing home she works at, and interesting hairstyles on middle-aged hippies.

Now for the stuff that makes me feel icky and dirty (and not in a good way). Even though she rolls up those archives, she has the dreaded auto-play...wait for it...VIDEO! And at the fucking bottom of the page! Gah! And, here's the weird thing, it only shows on some of the archive pages. I have a feeling that it's supposed to be everywhere, since there's a weird broken box at the bottom of the page when I view it in FF. Some friendly advice, get rid of it. Like, yesterday. That shit annoys me like no other. Also, even though it's kind of cool that you've put descriptions in place of titles for the blogs you link to, it's also kind of annoying. Annoying in a way when you're first introduced to your new boyfriend's group of friends and they spend the entire night assaulting your ears with inside jokes, leaving you to constantly ask your new boyfriend (who's so not getting any when you get home) what the hell everyone is talking about. I'm not saying you should change it, but you could switch your linkage over to blogroll.com and utilize their description option (it pops up when you roll over the link). The template itself isn't horrible, not my favorite, but if you're going to go with a blogger template, I guess this one is better than the one with the dots.

I give it for the content and for making me smile about the old man post

And a for the dreaded auto play music. Seriously, ditch it.

  3. Yes, because I always make sure my computer is completely on "mute" whenever I decide to browse the world wide web.

It's just as easy to make it user-controlled play as it is to have it be autoplay.

  4. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it at least a little bit. I'll stick with forcing people to listen (or utilize their mute button). I appreciate your honesty and your suggestions, and taking the time to review my blog. Hope you get your Monday back.

  5. Like the title. URL doesn't match title. General blogger template, slightly too green for me, but there you go.

Can you tell how "meh" I am about this?

  6. Ask and Ye Shall Receive doesn't match its URL. Didn't think that was a problem. I like green, so not so much a problem for me. I'll take "meh" from a site with iwillfuckingtearyouapart in its URL. LOL!

  7. Okay. Am I so retarded that I really have no clue what is meant by "URL doesn't match the title"?

I don't get it. Should the title of the blog absolutely match the url of the blog? In which case I think almost every blog on the internet is fucked by that standard.
