And Y'all Thought Kitty Was Verbose!

Hello all! It’s me Mrs. Crankity-Crank, your guest reviewer for today. Apparently, the folks at AAYSR felt that I had done something horribly wrong in a past life and felt the need to give me the Mommy Blog to beat all Mommy Blogs for review. Methinks it's because of my hate for the typical Mommy Blog and the label in general. Perhaps I should have waited to review this until I were in a better mood or had at least had my daily Zoloft dose, but unfortunately, the time constraints allowed for no such opportunity for a cleansing breath.

I think if you looked up "Mommy Blog" in Webster's (the actual book, not the lame-ass, completely impersonal online version) you would find a picture of Christys Playground. That is, if "Mommy Blog" were actually a word in such dictionary. And the first thing that irks me and drives me nuts to even type, is the fact that Christy apparently doesn't know what an apostrophe or a possessive is. It's "Christy's Playground". See that little mark after the "y"? That's not a booger on your screen, that's a form of punctuation. Use it. (Please do not point out all of my mistakes in grammar or punctuation. It's just plain rude to criticize the reviewer!) It's also "because", not "cos". And it's also customary to use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the typo and the lack of proofing. If I were woman enough to actually post my blog you'd see that. It's when these mistakes become habit that they get REALLY annoying.

As for the nuts and bolts of the blog I've got a few things to gripe about. The template is ... well... blah, but really, Blogger doesn't have the most exciting templates so I can't really fault her for that. I have a personal issue with word wrap around pictures but maybe that's just me being picky. I think it looks sloppy. I'm also not a big fan of the blue text. It hurts the eyes a bit, and really, do we need blue, green, pink AND black text? While, to me there are way too many links in one section, I think the overall simplicity of the site is good. There aren't a ton of buttons and banners and other miscellaneous crap cluttering the page. It has a nice, clean feel and that's a good thing.
(See, I'm trying to be somewhat positive!)

Now, for the content. In a word, yawn. I'm assuming that since she submitted her site she aspires to have her blog read by people outside of her inner circle. Perhaps in the world of scrapbooking she gets quite a few readers, but her content doesn't really appeal to a wide variety of peeps. If you aren't completely enamored and in awe of your children and scrapbooking about every moment of their lives you really won't have an interest in this blog. Maybe if I lived in Scrapbook. World I would get goosebumps at the mention of "TallyScrapper" and other such things but I don't. I don't even know what the hell that is. The content just doesn't do it for me and I suspect it won't do
anything for you either unless you know her or are obsessed with scrapping. (Note: This is not meant in any way to offend the scrappers out there. I used to be one. Please refrain from putting a heart-shaped hole punch to my ears. Thank you.)

I will give her credit though, her photography isn't bad. So many blogs lack in this area and it's nice to see someone not only utilizing photographs to enhance their content but also doing it in such a way that it isn't completely mundane.

I give it one lil ole .

The blog isn't offensive to the eyes and really, how could I give a flaming finger to a woman who is an uber mom and can make something pretty cute out of some pictures and paper? That's just some bad karma I'm not looking to grab, thanks.

Peace out bitches!
