Meditate on This...

So, I've been majorly slacking in the review department, but because Kitty loves me so much, she lets it slide. Thankfully, I have a pretty good site to review (from last week, no less), but I'm a little disappointed I don't have anything to rant about (I secretly love reviewing shitty blogs).

Living Next Door to Myself is written by Part-time Buddha, and I'll admit, I died a little inside when I thought I was going to have to read a bunch of New Age bullshit written by some dude in paper pants. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he's from Cleveland. For some reason, lots of great bloggers/writers come from Cleveland, my blogroll is lousy with them, must be the water. He has a gentle sense of humor that is a breath of fresh air from all the poop and dick jokes out there on the interwebs. Basically, he's funny without trying too hard. He also won me over with his love of Allen Ginsberg and hatred of Napoleon Dynamite (despite the fact that he loves the Counting Crows, wtf?). Anyway, the entries aren't too long and they're writer-ly in a way that isn't intimidating or vomit-inducing, a big plus in my book.

As for the template, well, it certainly is zen with its combos of grey, black, and white as well as the requisite buddha (natch). It's clean, easy to navigate, and blissfully devoid of blinkies, ads, and pleas for handouts. Frankly, I like it, but the template doesn't really matter when the content is excellent. He could be blogging on Livejournal and I wouldn't really give two shits.

I give it the coveted for reinforcing my faith in Cleveland bloggers...

  1. Thank you very much for the review and the nice things you said and for fucking loving me.

But mostly thanks for being only the third person I know who hates Napoleon Dynamite.

I know you already know this, but you rock.

  2. I found him recently and have been enjoying his put life back on track adventures. It's good stuff and he's been added to my daily read list.

  3. Napolean Dynamite is a shitty movie, but what makes it fantastic is the million-and-one opportunities real life leave wide open to quote the movie.

    Maybe it's just me.

And I do love you. In a 40% platonic kind of way. Tee hee!
